Melanie Badali,
Ph.D., R.Psych.
Dr. Melanie Badali is a Registered Psychologist in the Province of British Columbia (CPBC Reg. # 1951). She provides assessment and evidence-based treatment services for a range of clinical concerns related to anxiety, stress, depression, chronic pain, rehabilitation, and self-esteem issues. She also has experience in assessment and counselling for problems related to substance use and eating. She uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help clients gain self-understanding and learn new ways to solve problems, manage symptoms, and cope with stress. She also uses Motivational Interviewing to promote health behavior change. Her approach is collaborative and goal oriented. She works with clients to achieve personal change and enhance their everyday lives.
Dr. Badali obtained her B.A. (Honours Psychology) degree from McGill University, and her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of British Columbia. She completed her pre-doctoral Clinical Psychology Internship at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Over the past fifteen years, Dr. Badali has worked with clients experiencing anxiety, stress, depression and/or pain in a variety of settings. At Harborview Medical Center, a Level 1 trauma hospital, she worked with patients and their families immediately following their traumas as well as in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs. She has worked with clients managing chronic conditions and disabilities in a variety of programs at St. Paul's Hospital and the University of Washington Medical Center. She also has experience working in the private sector. As a psychologist at Back in Motion Rehab, she conducted psychological and psychovocational assessments as well treatment for clients with a variety of psychological conditions. She has experience liaising with insurance companies and supporting return-to-work planning. Dr. Badali is committed to facilitating clients' progress toward their personal, social, and occupational goals.
