Michelle Haring, Ph.D.

Dr. Michelle Haring completed her PhD in clinical psychology at the University of British Columbia. Throughout her training, she has specialized in the assessment and evidence-based treatment of anxiety disorders in adults. She has speciality training in cognitive behaviour therapy for anxiety disorders, depression and stress related problems. As part of her clinical training, she completed a full-time year-long residency in clinical psychology including rotations at UBC Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital through the Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre. Over the last five years, she has been involved in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of a group treatment program for generalized anxiety disorder (the Worry Management Program) at UBC Hospital, and serves as the coordinator and lead therapist of this program. Dr. Haring also teaches and provides supervision to psychiatry and psychology residents through the Anxiety Disorders Clinic at UBC Hospital. In addition, she provides workshops to mental health professionals on the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders. Dr. Haring serves on the Board of Directors of the Anxiety Disorders Association of BC (ADABC) and is involved in providing supervision to group leaders through ADABC’s Living Effectively with Anxiety and Fear (LEAF) panic intervention program. Dr. Haring’s research interests include basic processes and predictors of treatment response in GAD and obsessive-compulsive disorder and the development, evaluation and dissemination of evidence-based treatments for anxiety. She has published in the areas of stress and perfectionism.
