Dr. Rami Nader, R.Psych.
Dr. Rami Nader is a Registered Psychologist (#1683) and director at the North Shore Stress and Anxiety Clinic. He was one of the first psychologists in Canada to be certified in cognitive-behavioral (CBT) therapy by the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies and is also on psychology provider lists for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and NHL/NHLPA Behavioral Health Program. Dr. Nader exclusively uses CBT, which is an evidence-based treatment, widely considered as the most effective form of psychotherapy for anxiety and depression. He has specialized training and experience in the treatment of Depression, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder with and without Agoraphobia and Specific Phobias. Dr. Nader also provides independent, medical-legal assessments and consultations of psychological injuries associated with motor vehicle accidents, work-related accidents, sexual and physical assault, stalking and interpersonal harassment. He has been qualified as an expert in psychology and has provided expert witness testimony in British Columbia Supreme Court and RCMP hearings in the Federal Court of Canada on multiple occassions. In addition to his practice at the North Shore Stress and Anxiety Clinic, Dr. Nader is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia and a Clinical Associate at Simon Fraser University, teaching and training clinical psychology graduate students in CBT. He is a Psychological Associate in Dr. William Koch's forensic practice and has worked as a consultant Psychologist with the Vancouver Coastal Health Telehealth program, doing outreach to the remote communities of Bella Coola and Bella Bella, BC. Dr. Nader has published books, book chapters and research articles in scholarly journals and has given presentations at a number of provincial, national and international scientific and professional conferences in the areas of forensic psychology, pain and substance abuse.
Dr. Nader received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of British Columbia, following completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. During his residency, Dr. Nader completed a primary rotation in the Anxiety Disorders Clinic, receiving specialized training in assessment and cognitive-behavioral treatment of a variety of anxiety disorders. He completed additional rotations in the Alzheimer’s Clinic at UBC Hospital and Psychiatric Assessment Unit at Vancouver General Hospital. His clinical training experiences have also included rotations and placements in the Changeways Depression Program at UBC Hospital, Complex Pain Service at Vancouver General Hospital and Depression Management Program with Back in Motion Rehabilitation. He has also worked as a Psychologist at the Vancouver Pain Clinic, a multidisciplinary chronic pain program.
