Dr. Brenda Hogan, R.Psych.

Dr. Brenda Hogan is a Registered Psychologist (#1570). In her clinical practice, she provides therapy for adults struggling with depression, generalized anxiety, stress-related problems, social anxiety, panic, agoraphobia, health anxiety, phobias, sleep problems, self-esteem challenges, chronic pain, and coping with medical/health issues. She uses treatment approaches that have been demonstrated to be effective, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and closely related treatments such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). She works collaboratively with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique challenges and goals. In general, her focus is helping each client cope more effectively with their difficulties and improve their functioning so that they can live a more productive and fulfilling life. 

Dr. Hogan completed her PhD at the University of British Columbia in 2002. She previously worked at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, England, providing CBT to clients in outpatient and primary care settings. While in England, she worked with her colleagues to increase accessibility to mental health treatment in the community by developing and implementing a short-term therapy service offered out of family (GP) health clinics, as well as publishing a series of self-help resources for depression, anxiety, health anxiety, and phobias. More recently, Dr. Hogan worked as Manager of Psychological Services at Back in Motion Rehab. In addition to overseeing the delivery of mental health services across the various programs at Back in Motion, she provided both assessment and treatment services, with a focus on helping clients with physical and mental health barriers enter and/or return to the workforce.

In the community, Dr. Hogan serves on the Board of Directors of the Mavis McMullen Housing Society, a charitable organization providing safe, permanent, and affordable housing for low income single women and their children.
