Dr. Kirsten Quistberg, Therapist

Dr. Kirsten Quistberg is a therapist who has applied for registration with the College of Psychologists of BC. At this time, she provides therapy and psychological services under the supervision of a registered psychologist at North Shore Stress and Anxiety Clinic.

She specializes in the treatment of anxiety, trauma-related concerns, depression and behavioural challenges in children, teens, and young adults. She provides evidence-based treatment for generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder/complex trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, specific phobias (e.g., fear of insects), social anxiety disorder, and low mood/depression. Dr. Quistberg also treats externalizing behaviours (including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder [ADHD] and behavioural challenges), as well as Tics/Tourette’s Disorder. She is passionate about providing accessible and effective mental health care to neurodivergent young people, including those who are on the Autism Spectrum.

Dr. Quistberg offers a compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach. She works to provide collaborative, family-centred services, which focus on helping clients meet their goals, and improve day-to-day functioning while increasing their subjective wellbeing. She enjoys working with diverse clients, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. She prioritizes meeting clients where they are at and providing a safe space to better understand, process and work through difficult emotions and life challenges. She works from a cognitive behavioural approach and utilizes cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) as well as its specialized forms such as modified-CBT, Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She is in the process of becoming a TF-CBT Certified Clinician.

Dr. Quistberg received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Victoria. She completed her pre-doctoral residency at BC Children’s Hospital completing rotations in Child Protective Services, the OCD Clinic, the Neuropsychiatry Clinic, the Gender Clinic, as well as in the Inpatient/Outpatient Medical Psychology program. She also completed a rotation at the Sunny Hill Health Centre completing neurodevelopmental assessments.

In addition to her private practice at the North Shore Stress and Anxiety Clinic, Dr. Quistberg works at the Inpatient Child Psychiatry Program at BC Children’s Hospital where she provides psychological assessment to children with tertiary-level mental health concerns. In her spare time, she loves spending time outdoors with her dog, baking, and snowboarding!
