Dr. Jocelyn Lymburner is a Registered Psychologist. In her clinical practice she provides warm and compassionate care to couples and adults. Jocelyn is particularly well suited to working with clients who are struggling with life transitions, depression, grief and loss, and relationship concerns, including jealousy and insecurity. In her couples work, Dr. Lymburner helps to build trust and intimacy in couples who are experiencing disconnection due to chronic negative patterns of interaction, competing life demands such as children and work, and marital infidelity. Her interpersonal warmth and her straightforward and genuine nature make it easy for a wide variety of clients to relate to her.

Dr. Lymburner is committed to best practice standards in her clinical work. She has extensive training in evidence based therapies including emotion focused therapy for individuals and couples (EFT), interpersonal therapy for depression (IPT), and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). She works closely with clients to identify clear goals of therapeutic intervention and to develop a treatment approach that is tailored to the specific needs of each individual.

Dr. Lymburner has wide ranging clinical experience in a number of settings including private practice, outpatient psychiatric, inpatient psychiatric, corrections, and in medical-legal contexts. She has worked with distressed couples for over a decade, helping them to build intimacy and connection in their relationships. She has also treated depression, panic disorder, adjustment disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, health anxiety, pain disorders, and personality disorders both individually and in group settings. In her clinical role, Jocelyn additionally offers mental health and performance enhancement workshops as well as specialized DSM 5 training to a wide variety of audiences including worker and employee advisors, fitness specialists, educators, sheriffs, social workers, counselors, nurses, and police officers across British Columbia. Dr. Lymburner is also trained to provide comprehensive and evidence based psychological assessments both within a medical legal context and for the purposes of treatment planning and evaluation of disability.

In addition to her private practice at the North Shore Stress and Anxiety Clinic, Dr. Lymburner is a full time faculty member of Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Psychology department. An award-winning teacher, Dr. Lymburner has taught psychology at the undergraduate and graduate level for over fifteen years. Dr. Lymburner has been the recipient of national and provincial research grants supporting her investigation in the fields of youth mentoring and teaching and scholarship. She has presented her research internationally and shows a strong commitment to the mentoring of undergraduate students and in promoting service and community based learning at Kwantlen.

Born and raised on the east coast of Canada, Dr. Jocelyn Lymburner completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Prince Edward Island. She subsequently completed her Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Simon Fraser University, including an accredited pre-doctoral residency year in Clinical Health Psychology through the Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba.
